What's Happening for the Fourth of July
Posted by booeadmin | Wednesday, June 15, 2016

It won’t be long before we’ll all be celebrating our nation’s Independence Day on July 4, 2016. Nearly every town in South Carolina has something going on during that first week of July. Those of us at Booe Realty like to get out and go to as many events as we possibly can squeeze in and we encourage you to do the same. If you’re planning a visit to the area but haven’t found accommodations yet, give us a call and we’ll tell you what last minute rentals we have available for you.   Below are many of the events taking place in the area in celebration of Independence Day on July 4th:   The Garden City Golf Cart Parade begins at 2 p.m. on July 4. The parade starts at Calhoun Drive and proceeds to Woodland Avenue. Lineup behind Willard's Fireworks at 1:00 p.m. For info about being in the parade or with other questions call (843) 340-5835.   This year’s Salute From the Shore VII will take place throughout the Myrtle Beach coastal area starting at 1 p.m. on July 4, 2016. The focal point of Salute from the Shore has traditionally been highlighted with a flyover of military aircraft and has evolved to include patriotic volunteer pilots of privately-owned vintage military aircraft with veterans and active duty military aboard. This year’s annual tribute will have a flyover of vintage military aircraft and F-16s from the SC Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. The vintage military aircraft will be visible over South Carolina’s beaches shortly after the F-16s. Viewers are asked to put together patriotic displays in groups, big and small, and to share their tributes online for our armed forces around the world to see. The Flyover will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Cherry Grove and conclude over the May River Sandbar in Bluffton, SC around 1:30 p.m.   The popular Murrells Inlet 4th of July Boat Parade takes place annually and begins at Garden City Point in Murrells Inlet on July 2 starting at 5 p.m. This year marks the 33rd boat parade that has been held in Murrells Inlet on Independence Day. Call 652-4236 for more information or with questions.   Sunday Celebration Concerts are held every Sunday from 7-10 p.m. from June 26 until July 31, 2016 in Plyler Park, 1000 North Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach. Each concert is anticipated to draw 1,000 attendees. Come and enjoy the free concerts provided by Ground Zero but bring a chair or blanket.   The 5th Annual Cupcake Eating Contest will be held July 4 at Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach, 1325 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach. Competition participants are invited to “have their cake and eat it too” during this marathon cupcake eating event for those 18 years and older. The winner will be crowned the “Cupcake Champion” of Myrtle Beach. Competition begins at 3 p.m. The event is held in conjunction with Reggie Sanders (former MLB player) and the Reggie Sanders Foundation to raise money and build awareness about autism.
