The holiday season is upon us and decorations are going up everywhere! The Grand Strand area is alive with beautiful lights and Christmas trees seem to be on every corner. There are a large number of special events taking place that you can only be a part of at this time of year so be sure to get out and treat yourself. Don’t spend the entire month in a frenzy of shopping and miss out on the fun things. Night of a Thousand Candles is Brookgreen Garden’s most popular annual event that has become a holiday tradition for many families! Thousands of lights sparkle from live Oak trees and illuminate garden paths as musicians perform, carolers sing and visitors experience the enchantment that only this event can bring. The 80-foot-tall fir tree decorated with 70,000 lights will be lighted in ceremonial fashion at 5:45 p.m. every night. Call 1-888-718-4253 to purchase tickets. The Holiday Bazaar at Market Common from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday through December 17 at Market Common! There will be seasonal craft vendors, live greens, and fresh food. Bring the kids and have Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 a.m. on December 10 and 17 at Market Common. The Surfside Beach Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 starting at 2 p.m. The parade will run on Ocean Boulevard. Come celebrate the holidays and watch the parade! The 13th annual “Christmas Towne” Festival will take place from 2-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the events plaza outside Myrtle Beach Convention Center, at Oak Street and 21st Avenue North. Free admission includes parking. Sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber ofCommerce. Holidays on the Boardwalk will be held from 12-6 p.m. every Saturday from January 1, 2017in Myrtle Beach. Festivities include a holiday light show, camel rides, live entertainment and visits with Santa, the Grinch, Santa's elves and princesses! The Festival of Lights is a must-see. Ripley's Ruckus Drum Line, Charity Elise, Carolina Vocals and the Boardwalk Elvis are just a few of the performers you can expect to see throughout the holiday season on the Boardwalk. The annual “Lighting of the Menorah,” will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 – the first night of Hanukkah – in Valor Memorial Garden at The Market Common, with Rabbi David Weissman.
