Enjoying Autumn in the Grand Strand at Local Events

This year why not make the most of the early Autumn season by attending some of the local fun-filled events taking place around the Grand Strand area. Residents and seasonal vacationers alike look forward to this time of year when it begins to cool off just a bit and there are overall less crowds and traffic. It’s a time to look forward to the last quarter of the year and the holidays fast approaching. If you’ve never been to a Hoe Down Festival here’s your opportunity! The Aynor Hoe Down Festival is a celebration of the start of fall that includes a full out country festival at Aynor Town Park. The free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Come enjoy the hundreds of arts & crafts and food vendors, music, children’s entertainment, a parade and street dancing. We have lots of vacancies if you’re coming for the Society of Stranders (SOS) Fall Shag Migration. This yearly event is held on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach on Sunday, Sept. 18 and Monday, Sept. 19, from noon until 10 p.m.

Visit Huntington Beach State Park from September 23-25 to enjoy fine art, live music and food vendors with the park’s natural beauty as a backdrop at the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival. Beginning on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. until Sunday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. this is an event not to be missed! The annual Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art features musical performances as well as art throughout the town. An assortment of events will take place at this festival that runs all day long from September 24 to October 15, 2016 including Chalk Under the Oaks, Food & Wine Gala, musical performances and more.

The 13th Annual Irish Italian International Festival is being held Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 421 Main St., North Myrtle Beach. Held rain or shine, this one-day Irish and Italian international themed festival includes two stages of live entertainment, food from local restaurants, street performers, art & craft vendors and dance groups.

The annual St. John’s Greek Festival is a four day event held at the St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church of Myrtle Beach at the corner of Hwy 17 Bypass and 33rd Avenue North. The festival is from Sept. 29 through October 2, 2016, all day long. The public is invited to attend.

No Autumn celebration is complete without a trip through a the 6-acre Corn Maze like this one held at Thompson Farm in Conway, SC. Beginning on Friday, Sept. 30 the maze is open Friday-Sunday through October 30. Hours are: Fridays 6-11 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays 1-5 p.m. Admission is $15.50+tax for adults and $13.50+tax for children. Children 2 and under are free.
