5 Local Festivals You Won't Want to Miss

As Autumn approaches the number of festivals taking place in the Myrtle Beach area increases. While things like the beachfront, the ocean waves, amusement and water parks are always here for locals and vacationers alike, the festivals come around just once a year. Following are five of the most popular local festivals that you won’t want to miss! All are just a short distance from the vacation accommodations we can supply you with at Booe Realty. St. John’s Greek Festival The St. John's Greek Festival is a four day event sponsored by and held in the Fellowship Hall at St. John’s Orthodox Church of Myrtle Beach. Taking place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day from Thursday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 27. Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival This is an annual event that takes place at the Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet. Beginning Friday, Sept. 25 from noon to 6 p.m. the event is held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. Featuring more than 100 of the finest artisans, the Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival provides aesthetic beauty against a background of natural beauty. Enjoy fine art, quality crafts and food, along with the musical offerings of several of the area’s finest musicians. Please, no dogs or other pets at the festival. Daily festival admission fee is $8 for adults. A multi-day pass is available for $10. Visitors 15 years old and younger are admitted free with an adult. Admission to the park during the festival is also free. Free festival admission to Park Passport Plus holders, and three guests. Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art This very popular annual festival features musical performances and art throughout the town of Pawleys Island from Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 27. A wide assortment of events make up this festival including Chalk Under the Oaks, Food & Wine Gala, musical performances and more. Many free events and others with varying ticket prices. 2015 Brunswick County Intercultural Festival The Brunswick County Intercultural Festival is an annual event that brings families, individuals, children of all ages, schools, churches, local businesses, and residents of Brunswick County together on a journey to learn, understand, celebrates the diverse culture represented in our communities. Held at Brunswick Community College the festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 and is open to the public. Irish Italian International Festival This year marks the 12th Annual Irish Italian International Festival taking place at 421 Main St., in North Myrtle Beach. This free event is held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. The event will be held whether it's sunny or raining. This one-day event is fun for the whole family! It includes food, live music, street performers, vendors, dance groups and more! There will be a contest for best entree, best dessert and best decorated. One of the favorites of the day is the spaghetti-eating contest! This event is free for the whole family!
